Facility Management and education/training are a common theme throughout Ian's professional career. After succesfully completing the Royal Military Academy, Ian served his first years as an officer providing basic military training and subseqently becoming head of the training department for the Royal Netherlands Air Force at Woensdrecht Air Force Base. In 2000 Ian became deputy director for facilities at the Air Force Head Quarters in the Hague, thus starting a new career in FM. After completing his Master in Facility & Real Estate Management (with honors) at Groningen Universtity, he has been expanding on his professional FM-experience in various positions within government, commercial organizations as well as lecturer Imagineering & International FM at  the Breda University of Applied Sciences. As a volunteer leader, Ian served in various professional FM-organizations: IFMA, Chapter Holland - International Relationships FMN - Chairman IFMA Global Board of Directors - Non-executive Director CEN/TC348 Facility Management - Chairman European FM Standards Committee ISO/TC267 Facility Management - Convenor AG1 -Roadmap (Strategic Advisory Group) Ian is a very active and internationally oriented FM professional. He is currently employed by the Dutch Ministry of Defence, Joint Support Command. Here he is – amongst others –responsible for implementing a new FM-organization serving 70.000 military and civilian personnel on 50+ military installations. ISO41001 will be used as the foundation for this new organization and its FM-management system. Through his company ISO41001 CSI, Ian is very active in promoting the ISO41000-series of FM standards in general and  ISO41001 (FM management systems) and ISO 41014 (developing FM strategy) in particular.
